So, IF the rumours are correct and the number of times the brothers meet per week is IN FACT being reduced - THEN as far as the scripture about 'meeting all the MORE SO' as you behold the day drawing near' is concerned, the Society is now openly flaunting that admonition! They're meeting ALL THE LESS as the end nears. Good one.

Meeting schedule rearranged...WHY?
by sir82 inofficial speculation thread.... even if a reason is given for the meeting rearrangement when it is announced on 4/27, we all know how the society spins things (e.g., awake magazine being reduced to one issue per month to "put more emphasis on the bible" real reason.. .
so why is the society doing this?
on the surface, it seems to be a loosening of control.

Hello America I'm Back!!
by Wordly Andre inas many of you know i went to south america (ecuador) for my vacation, and to meet some of my wife's family and friends, so i will write a bit about what happend.
first, this was not a typical relaxing vacation with laying out on the beach and drinking cocktails, our first day we took a 3 hour car ride outside the capitol to a area that we hike to see huge waterfall, along the way we toured some volcanos, now quito, ecuador is in some parts as high up as 9,600 ft high, and in that high elevation, a sea level guy like me had some problems, stomach aches, headaches, body aches, and shortness of breath, but i did fine.
after a few days of visiting volcanos, and other historical points of interest, my wife's best friend's husband has a cousin who is a captain in the ecuadorian air force, i was told that we were going to visit him because he is stationed in a town at the gateway to the amazon, so we took a nearly 5 hour car ride into the amazon, along the way stopping at some more volcanos, and little shops to buy shrunken heads.

Wow - thanks for that report! You sound like quite the intrepid traveller - did a lot of things I would never give a second thought to - glad it all worked out. I've often thought of visiting the Galapagos Islands, but not sure if I'm up for that much of an adventure. Beautiful pictures also. Thanks for sharing.

OK, so I revised the letter mostly becasue of Scottsman... please read
by dawg indad, .
since our time on this planet is short, i wanted to take a moment and tell you that you were the person that i loved more than any other person in the world.
nothing has made me sadder than the events that have surrounded this last year; events that were years in the making yet in my mind were unavoidable.

That last line in your letter is so powerful - if that doesn't reach his heart, nothing will. I hope your letter has the intended result.

I think it's because they're starting to realize that by their words, they will be hanging themselves, and the less said, the better. Pretty soon the meetings will be simply "Praise the Lord". That way, you give apostates and thinkers less to take apart. Haven't we all noticed that any info in the new paperbacks is less and less "meat" and more generic. There is so much Biblical scholarship out there these days that if they say too much of anything, it will be easy to dissect and critique. This way, there is less time to fill - a win/win (in their opinion). By the way, I think this is a GREAT DEVELOPMENT! Total implosion is on its way!

Challenge to Christians to read this! What do you make of this?
by chrisjoel inthe gospel story, with its figure of jesus of nazareth, cannot be found before the gospels.
in christian writings earlier than mark, including almost all of the new testament epistles, as well as in many writings from the second century, the object of christian faith is never spoken of as a human man who had recently lived, taught, performed miracles, suffered and died at the hands of human authorities, or rose from a tomb outside jerusalem.
there is no sign in the epistles of mary or joseph, judas or john the baptist, no birth story, teaching or appointment of apostles by jesus, no mention of holy places or sites of jesus career, not even the hill of calvary or the empty tomb.

I figure we will never know the whole truth until all the Vatican archives are opened up for all to see. I bet there are some real treasures of documents that the Church is keeping from all of us that may explain a whole lot about the Bible, what was included, more importantly, what was not and why it was not. And why are they secret in the first place?

A Watchtower Metaphor if I may?
by AK - Jeff inin an effort to soften my discussions with a jw who used to be close to me, i have developed a metaphor - one that does not mention religion at all.
of course we both know to what it refers - but it is my clear belief that jw's can't discuss reality straight up.
a man is convinced early in his life that he should run, and that the best running can be achieved when he runs for, and associates with, only the running corp. so, at the tender age of 4, he begins to associate as a junior runner.

I think it's brilliant! Why, oh why, can't everybody see it as we have? Why didn't we see it before we did? I now look back on all those who I know that dropped out over the years and I kick myself that I didn't actually go up to them and ask them why they left, instead of blindly viewing them as traitors, the way we were trained to do. Very sad. I may use it, with your permission!
